Diesel tune workshop software. Factory vs modified. Road-load report — not a dyno.
SmartECU Desk is Windows software for performance workshops that tune from the road. Keep the job, compare factory and modified datalogs, and print a customer sheet without a chassis dynamometer.

What shops use it for
Workshop job book
Customer, vehicle, VIN, rego, logs, ECU files, notes and DTCs on one job. Search history by plate, VIN or calibration ID.
Factory vs modified overlay
Estimated wheel kW and Nm, boost, injection, common-rail pressure, EGT, and target vs actual where the log has them.
Customer tune report
One landscape page with your logo. Peak kW / hp, pull quality (WOT / gear / sample time), road-load graph.
Calibration pack
File-supplier PDF plus a zip of logs and ECU files so the tuner can see what the truck did on the road.
Built around diesel performance work — LandCruiser 70 / 79, 1VD-FTV and similar road pulls — and generic enough for other CAN datalogs. Current build: SmartECU Desk v2.8.27 for Windows.
Inside the desk
Overlay — factory vs modified road pull (estimated wheel power, boost, injection, EGT).
Job history — search by rego, VIN or calibration. Peak kW / hp on the row.
What Desk is not
- Not a chassis, hub, or engine dynamometer, and not a Virtual Dyno clone.
- Not an OEM diagnostic application and not a flash or map editor.
- Not a claim to every control module, sample rate, or every vehicle.
- Injection volume, rail target and VN command come from the datalog you load. Desk does not invent them on the adapter.
Road-load method
Power at the wheels is estimated from the change in road speed against time, the mass entered on the job, rolling resistance, and a simple aerodynamic term. Torque is inferred from that power and engine speed.
P_wheels ≈ F · v
T ≈ P / ω
| Mass | Entered on the job from the plate or a weighbridge. VIN mass is a helper only. |
|---|---|
| Speed and time | Taken from the datalog. Sample times slower than about 1 second are rejected for kW. Aim for a custom list near 60–100 ms. |
| Pull window | Sheets default to 1500–3500 rpm. WOT is judged from accelerator position in that band. |
| Tyres | Stock-size all-terrain assumed. A large change in rolling radius falsifies indicated speed and kW. |
| What it is for | Same vehicle, same road, factory vs modified. Not correlation to a named dyno cell. |
Licence — one key per PC
A paid key is tied to the workshop email and that computer’s Machine ID (Help → Copy machine ID). Forwarding the key to another PC will not Activate. A second workshop computer is a second seat.
14-day trial on first install. After that, email cal@smartecusolutions.com.au with the address you want licensed and the Machine ID.
